Evaluation of colour-correcting lenses

چکیده
Approximately 5% of the world’s population suffer from what is commonly called colour blindness. A small number of products are on the market that claim to improve colour discrimination for colour-blind observers. This study evaluates the performance of a particular product (ColorView A5) product by performing psychophysical experiments with a colour-blind observer. Without correction the observer was only able to respond correctly for 12 of the 25 Ishihara test plates; with correcting lenses, the observer scored 100% on the Ishihara test. However, performance of the observer on the FarnsworthMunsell 100-hue test deteriorated with colour-correcting lenses with the error increasing substantially from a score of 188 to 380. This suggests that the correcting lenses do not reliably improve colour discrimination and may, in fact, make it worse. However, they did enable the observer to pass the Ishihara test.

In this work, liquid colour-changing lenses for vision protection, camouflage and optical filtering are developed by circulating colour liquids through microfluidic channels on the lenses manually. Soft lithography technology is applied to fabricate the silicone liquid colour-changing layers with microfluidic channels on the lenses instead of mechanical machining. To increase the hardness and a...
متن کاملBoth coloured overlays and coloured lenses can improve reading fluency, but their optimal chromaticities differ.
Some individuals read more fluently when the text is coloured: i.e., when coloured sheets of plastic (overlays) are placed upon the page, or when coloured lenses are worn. Overlays provide a surface colour whereas lenses mimic a change in the colour of a light source. The neural mechanisms that underlie colour constancy ensure that the chromaticity of overlays and lenses is processed differentl...

Chromatic aberration is observable especially with wide angle lenses. This paper presents a study on chromatic aberration of two fisheye lenses. Both tested lenses produce images with obvious colour aberration. Four different mathematical models were tested to compensate the aberration of distinct colour channels; shift and scale, affine, projective and polynomial. The model parameters were obt...

1. Patients with cataract were classified into undernourished (twenty-eight subjects) and well-nourished (twenty-seven subjects) groups based on the anthropometric index, weight (kg)/height (m)2. Those with a value for the index of less than 18 were considered as undernourished. 2. Lenses were classified into four groups on the basis of nuclear colour as proposed by Pirie (1968). Lenses of pale...
